Checklist To Follow Before Sending A Newsletter

Recently I wrote a post around Checklist for publishing your blog post. That idea motivates me to create another post covering different process. Today’s checklist is around newsletter sending process. I’m going to share a checklist one should tick mark before sending a newsletter to their clients or email subscribers. Here goes my checklist and don’t forget to share your thoughts about this checklist at the end of this post. And if I missed some points, please share in the comments section so that others can get benefit from it.

Go through the newsletter content and check it for all kind of errors including Grammatical, linking, image errors. I would suggest reading your newsletter multiple times before sending to your customers. Because every time you go through your newsletter, there is every possibility of making improvement in it.

It’s your newsletter subject that people will see first when your newsletter reaches their inboxes. So Subject line for your newsletter is going to have huge impact on your email subscribers. Most of the time, people decide whether to read, ignore or delete an email just after checking its subject line. So spend some time creating a subject line for your newsletter that people actually love reading and opening.

Have you added some personalization elements into your Email newsletter and if yes, make sure they are working perfectly. And if you are not giving a personalized touch to your Email, you look to be spamming the same message to your entire list. So it will be a wise decision to add some personalized elements to your newsletter. You can think of including your subscribers First Name, Lat Name, Interests etc as part of your Subject line and in the newsletter body. Most of the time, people feel good on seeing their names in the subject line or in the email body. Make sure you are sending your newsletter to the correct list and it should be updated one carrying all of your latest Email subscribers. It’s going to a big blunder sending your latest newsletter to different interest group. So be extra cautious while selecting targeted members for your latest newsletter.

Send some tests to yourself on different email clients like Gmail, Yahoo, HotMail etc before sending your newsletter to a list. And check your newsletter layout in different email clients using popular browses like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer etc most used version by your blog readers.

Again, you would love to send your newsletter when maximum people actually open it. So select an optimized date and time for your newsletter when you are expecting maximum opens and clicks for your newsletter. You can test different dates, times and stick with the one giving you maximum output.

And once you are fine with the entire checklist mentioned above, send your newsletter and start tracking report of your newsletter from Email software you are using for sending newsletters. I would suggest using Aweber which is the ultimate solution for sending Newsletters and Autoresponders. Click here to know more in detail about Aweber, its features and benefits of using Aweber.
